Barcelona’s preparations for the new season are not only happening on the pitch, with the club also continuing to invest heavily behind the scenes.

While work continues at Camp Nou, where improvements are ongoing and a new state-of-the-art playing surface is also part of the plans, attention has now turned towards upgrading the club’s training complex.

The Blaugrana hierarchy are determined to provide Hansi Flick’s squad with the very best facilities as they continue modernising every aspect of the club.

According to SPORT, Barcelona are constructing a brand-new state-of-the-art gym at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

Rather than placing the facility inside one of the existing buildings, the club has positioned it beside the first-team training pitches to improve the efficiency of daily sessions.

The layout has been specifically designed so players can move directly between outdoor drills and indoor strength, conditioning or recovery work without wasting valuable time walking across the complex.

It also allows coaching staff to split training groups more effectively, with some players continuing football exercises while others complete individual rehabilitation or fitness programmes at the same time.

The facility will be equipped with the latest strength-training technology as well as advanced recovery equipment, giving Barcelona’s medical and performance departments additional resources to manage workloads and reduce injury risks.

Improving player conditioning has become one of the club’s biggest priorities in recent months, with Barcelona already expanding both their medical and sports science teams through the recruitment of specialist staff.

The investment forms part of a wider project to modernise the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, which has served as Barcelona’s first-team training base since opening in 2006.

And the current development may only be the beginning.

The report adds that sporting director Deco is already exploring a second phase of improvements, although it is not considered an immediate priority.

Those long-term plans include the construction of a modern residential facility at the training ground, providing first-team players with a dedicated space to stay, recover and prepare ahead of matches and during training camps as Barcelona continue investing in the club’s future both on and off the field.
