Barcelona has made a versatile Liverpool star their primary transfer target, aiming to strengthen their attack.

FC Barcelona’s transfer strategy is on the move and developing, with the club trying to find its way through the complexities of the summer market.

Initially, the club had its sights set on Nico Williams, a youth talent from Athletic Bilbao.

Following a meeting with the player’s representatives, the club’s direction seems unclear. The young Spaniard, who previously topped the club’s wishlist, was dismissed by Club President Joan Laporta after his refusal last year to sign.

Despite this unprecedented public refusal by a key signing target, it should be noted that there is still a flickering light of opportunity with Nico Williams, as a range of possibilities have slightly opened.

However, Barcelona sporting director Deco was still very much focused on one of the few Premier League stars on his list of transfer opportunities down the left side of the pitch.

The principal player in the Barcelona targeting will be Luis Díaz from Liverpool, as reported by Diario Sport.

The 28-year-old Colombian soccer player is being viewed and valued as both a winger and a true striker, who has become Deco’s number one option, supported by Hansi Flick.

The potential signing has been emphasized by the need for attacking versatility to go with goal-scoring, and in addition to Hansi Flick’s attacking team meeting expectations, while the player market and a limited budget weigh on decisions.

Díaz’s 17 goals this season, including eight as a center-forward, demonstrate his versatility, but there is still a feeling of reluctance within Liverpool to let him go.

The player has indicated he wants the move via recent social media activity, including following Barcelona on Instagram.

Beyond this, they will have to consider signing Nico Williams at a reported €62 million release clause, although Díaz’s experience and tactical fit are the priority.

With the player’s interest and desire to join, Barcelona’s hope and belief in completing this transfer are growing, although they will have to be smart with the negotiations with Liverpool and finances as they try to conclude the deal before the pre-season.
