Over the years, La Masia has produced some of the most talented footballers ever.
From Lionel Messi to Iniesta, the quality that comes out of the Catalonian academy is incredible.
Even to this day, La Masia is producing superstars who seem destined to become the best of their generations.
Hansi Flick’s side includes Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Pau Cubarsi, Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal, all of which graduated from the esteemed academy.
Despite there being so many successes, there have also been some players who have not lived up to the expectations.
Ansu Fati is a prime example of this.
The Spaniard broke through as a teenager and was instantly hailed as Leo Messi’s heir apparent.
Unfortunately, due to injuries and lack of game time, the La Masia graduate has now become a ‘what if’ player.
Most recently he went on loan to the Premier League and whilst he impressed with Brighton and Hove Albion, an injury derailed his progress.
Now under Flick, Fati is an outcast, rarely even making the matchday squads.
The 22-year-old was advised by the club and coaching staff to leave on loan during the winter transfer market but he decided to stay.
Tottenham, West Ham and Saudi clubs were all interested in the young winger.
It seems certain that a departure from Barcelona is set to happen next summer and according to Fichajes, he could be joining a club in La Liga.
Girona’s manager Michel has identified two Barca players for the next window and one of them is Ansu Fati.
The other is the 21-year-old midfielder Pablo Torre, who joined the Blaugrana in 2022 from Racing for €5million.
Torres spent the 2023/24 season on loan with Girona so he would be able to adapt to the Blanquivermell’s playstyle and player culture very quickly.
It is stated that Barca are aware that both of the players’ careers have stalled and due to their age, they know getting no minutes with the club is not good for their progress.
Whilst loan moves are definitely on the table, a permanent signing for the right price also is not ruled out considering Barcelona’s financial situation.
