Borussia Dortmund plot an audacious hijack of Barcelona’s prime target as the Bundesliga side moves fast to steal the deal.

The Bundesliga giants, preparing for life after potential sales at the back, see the Premier League standout as a low-cost, high-impact solution to reinforce their backline while staying true to their develop-and-sell model.

For Barcelona, who identified the player as a priority fit for Hansi Flick’s high line, this emerging rival threatens to complicate what once looked like a straightforward opportunity.

Reports in Spain highlight that Barcelona are his preferred destination and that Deco has already green‑lit his profile as an ideal left-footed option to strengthen the defence without a transfer fee.

The defender in question is Marcos Senesi, the 28-year-old Argentine centre-back whose contract at Bournemouth expires in the summer and who has made it clear he will not renew.

Senesi’s assured ball-playing, aggression in duels, and comfort in a high defensive line make him tailor-made for Flick’s structure, especially with question marks over the futures of players like Andreas Christensen and the heavy minutes being loaded onto Pau Cubarsí.

However, Fichajes now point to Borussia Dortmund as a powerful new contender, with the German club recently asking about Senesi’s situation and exploring a multi-year offer.

For Borussia Dortmund, the attraction is obvious: a proven Premier League defender, still in his peak years, arriving for free and potentially sellable later at a profit.

They can also promise immediate prominence in a side that regularly features in the latter stages of the Champions League and offers a fast, open style that suits Senesi’s strengths.

Senesi’s stated preference for Camp Nou gives them a crucial edge, but Dortmund’s cleaner finances and stable structure mean this race is far from decided.

If Barcelona cannot move quickly and decisively, their ideal bargain reinforcement could easily slip away to the Yellow Wall.
