Barcelona are planning ahead for the summer transfer window as they look to address key weaknesses in their squad.

Despite improvements in certain areas, the club remains intent on strengthening both full-back positions to provide more balance to the team.

Last season exposed defensive vulnerabilities, particularly on the flanks, where versatility and depth were lacking at crucial moments.

With Andreas Christensen suffering an injury earlier this season, but being back in action as of late, Barcelona would want to avoid further injuries plaguing their squad especially when it comes to the defence.

The upcoming transfer window presents an opportunity for Barcelona to add fresh talent while also keeping financial constraints in mind.

With several names already linked to the club, scouting efforts have intensified as they search for cost-effective yet high-quality reinforcements.

A new name has now emerged in their search, as Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on Feyenoord teenager Givairo Read, as per Sport’s Toni Juanmarti.

The young full-back has impressed scouts with his performances in the Eredivisie, leading to increased interest from top European clubs.

Barcelona have monitored him extensively, having sent representatives to watch him multiple times this season.

Givairo Read has played 24 matches for Feyenoord’s first team, scoring once and providing seven assists in an impressive campaign.

His ability to operate on both flanks and contribute in attack makes him an attractive option for the Blaugrana.

At just 18 years old, Read possesses remarkable athleticism and tactical awareness, attributes that suit Barcelona’s playing style.

With a contract running until 2028, Feyenoord are in a strong negotiating position, though Barcelona may still attempt to strike a reasonable deal.
The Spanish giants are not alone in their pursuit, as Premier League leaders Liverpool have also expressed interest in Read.

Liverpool’s potential loss of Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer could push them to intensify their efforts to sign the Dutch full-back.

For now, Read remains focused on finishing the season strongly, while interest in his signature continues to grow.
