Barcelona’s summer transfer window has kicked off with urgency as the club look to reshape their squad under Hansi Flick.

Despite strong pre-season optimism, the Catalan giants remain under UEFA pressure to improve financial stability and squad registration flexibility.

Several fringe players are now expected to be offloaded to free up wages and create room for strategic signings in key positions.

Among the names circulating the exit list, one former golden boy has emerged as a top candidate for departure as the club aim to offload expensive contracts.

Ansu Fati’s future at Barcelona has taken a fresh twist after the club reportedly rejected an initial offer from AS Monaco.

According to MARCA, Monaco’s opening bid failed to meet Barcelona’s expectations, offering only a loan deal with the Blaugrana expected to cover the majority of Fati’s wages — a proposal the club immediately turned down.

The La Liga giants are understood to be unwilling to sanction another expensive loan for Ansu Fati, whose salary remains one of the highest among the players outside the regular starting XI.

Barcelona’s preference is clear: a loan with a mandatory or optional purchase clause that would allow them to finally move on from the once highly-rated winger.

Fati, now 21, is open to leaving Camp Nou this summer after struggling to cement a consistent role in the first team.

The Spain international spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion but returned without convincing the Barca hierarchy that he deserves a second chance.

Talks are expected to continue, with Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes reportedly pushing for Monaco to return with an improved proposal.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are actively seeking other potential suitors across Europe, knowing that Fati’s departure could be key to unlocking summer business.

With UEFA’s financial requirements looming large, Barca need to make smart, financially viable moves — and parting ways with Ansu Fati might just be the first major domino to fall.
