Barcelona faces a serious setback with 2 important stars edging closer to summer departures as the team aims to rebuild.

With the club eyeing reinforcements in key positions—a new striker and central defender—the plan hinges on freeing up salary space and generating revenue through strategic player exits.

Presidential elections have paused major moves, but Deco has a clear roadmap ready to activate post-March 15, in tandem with Hansi Flick’s vision.

Central to the blueprint are two specific first-team sales, targeting players deemed surplus due to positional depth or limited minutes.

Those players are Marc-André ter Stegen and Ansu Fati, both currently on loan—ter Stegen at Bournemouth and Fati at Monaco—with Deco pushing for permanent transfers to offload their hefty wages permanently, as reported by Diario Sport.

Resolving their futures, alongside Robert Lewandowski’s potential free exit or pay cut, would elevate Barcelona to La Liga’s 1:1 rule, enabling fluid market operations.

Deco’s approach safeguards the team’s spine: protected stars like Pedri, Gavi, Yamal, Cubarsi, and Araújo stay put.

The sales aim to fund a prolific No.9 to succeed Lewandowski—options like Omar Marmoush or Julian Alvarez—and a left-footed center-back such as Nico Schlotterbeck or Alessandro Bastoni for defensive balance.

Full-back tweaks are secondary, favoring youth promotions or retaining João Cancelo without big spending.

This calculated pruning reflects Barcelona’s evolution under Deco. Unlike past fire sales, these exits target non-core assets, preserving competitiveness while boosting the wage bill ceiling.

Ter Stegen’s long-term hip issues and Fati’s injury-plagued form make them expendable, potentially fetching €20-30m combined to offset targets’ costs.

Post-election, negotiations ramp up by late March, with agents already briefed.

Success here could propel Flick’s Blaugrana toward another title charge, blending youth verve with targeted experience.
