Barcelona’s frontline this season has been absolutely outstanding and one player, who was linked with a move away last summer, has really been shining, Raphinha.
The 28-year-old had a tough start to his Barça career, however, under Hansi Flick, the Brazilian has had a new lease of life.
It is so much so that the former Leeds United forward is one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this year.
Raphinha has scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions and we are only halfway through the season.
Speaking in a recent interview, via Managing Barca, the Brazilian played down his chances of winning the converted award.
“Winning the Ballon d’Or this year? My goal is to be a better version of myself every day. If it happens, fine, but what matters to me are the collective titles.”
Raphinha was also asked about Lamie Yamal’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or: “Lamine Yamal will win plenty of Ballon d’Ors.”
Since Lionel Messi, Barça players have not really been in the conversation for the Ballon d’Or’s, however, if they can get some silverware this season then there will be a handful of Blaugrana stars who have a serious chance to take it home.
