FC Barcelona’s eagerly anticipated return to their beloved Spotify Camp Nou is taking shape after over two years of renovations, with the club aiming to rekindle the magic of their historic home in the 2025-26 season.

Since June 2023, the Blaugrana have played at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Still, supporters – and players – are ready to return to their renovated stadium that will have a capacity of 105,000 when completed.

The club’s careful pre-planning, including prior discussions with La Liga, will make the transition back to their spiritual home seamless, and preparations are well underway to meet important deadlines for both domestic and European competitions.

The transformation of Espai Barça looks to be a redevelopment of a modern venue for the supporters to watch their beloved team play.

Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona is eyeing September 20-21 to be the first home La Liga match at Spotify Camp Nou in the 2025-26 season.

La Liga has granted the club’s request to play their first four matches away, beginning on August 16-17, with more match days on August 23-24, August 30-31, and September 13-14.

The club is excited by this schedule, with no midweek league fixtures coming before the Champions League return, as it provides ample opportunity to finalise the renovations.

The club is hopeful of UEFA’s requirement for a fixed venue to be completed and host matches in the Champions League group stage before September 30 or October 1.

The return of Hansi Flick’s squad depends entirely on the turf, which is set to be installed after the Post Malone concert on September 12.

Barcelona is aware of the Estadi Olímpic as a back-up option, but the club is confident it has time.

Based on the turf being match-ready by mid-September, Barcelona is keen to give their loyal supporters a wonderful welcome back match and fully re-establish Spotify Camp Nou as a footballing cathedral for Hansi Flick’s squad and their devoted supporters.
