Newcastle making progress for Barcelona defender deal

Newcastle are getting closer and closer to signing Barcelona defender.

Newcastle United is on the hunt for a new centre-back and Andreas Christensen is on their radar. Recent reports suggest that Eddie Howe is eager to strengthen the team’s defense as the summer transfer window deadline approaches.

Newcastle had their sights set on Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and made several offers, but all have been rejected, including the latest bid of around £65 million.

With the August 30 deadline looming, Newcastle is now considering other alternatives. Despite their interest in Guehi, the latest reports indicate that the Magpies are exploring the possibility of signing Christensen.

Mundo Deportivo has reported that Christensen’s future at Barcelona under Hansi Flick is uncertain. Flick preferred Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martínez in the season opener, leaving Christensen’s role in question.

It is now speculated that Newcastle is actively pursuing the 28-year-old Danish defender as an alternative to Guehi.

The club has been showing interest in Christensen since early summer and may soon make a formal move to secure his services to bolster Eddie Howe’s defensive lineup.
