The atmosphere around Barcelona is heating up as the club prepares for its upcoming presidential vote.
Fans, pundits, and stakeholders are watching closely, knowing that the next leader could shape both the club’s financial future and sporting trajectory.
Every pre-candidate is trying to make their mark, outlining plans and promises to capture the imagination of socios.
Amid the political manoeuvring and media coverage, questions about transfer strategy, youth development, and Champions League ambitions dominate conversations.
One candidate, in particular, is putting economic stability at the forefront of his pitch.
Marc Ciria has placed financial reform at the heart of his campaign, aiming to create a solid economic foundation before pursuing sporting ambitions.
Speaking during the presentation of his international plan, as relayed by SPORT, Marc Ciria made it clear that his project is built around economic stability first, followed by sporting ambition.
Confident ahead of the March 15 vote, he revealed his intention to act immediately if elected.
“We will ask the members to hold an extraordinary meeting so that we can implement the financial restructuring plan and, by April, be governing the club and the statutes.
“The legal team has reviewed this, and the statutes allow it,” he began.
Ciria outlined a €110 million promise designed to boost Barcelona’s summer transfer potential.
“By implementing the digital solution and the financial restructuring solution, I will have €110 million in free cash to make available to the technical department in the summer.
“I will say to Mr. Flick, here is your financial ‘fair play’, let’s go for that player who can complete a generation of young players who will give us the next Champions League titles.
“Yes, in the summer we will have a financial profile and free cash,” he promised.
Addressing the political side of the campaign, Ciria took a swipe at rivals while reinforcing his vision for the club.
“We’re not going to Mercabarna to compete. I’ll give him the mechanical bull. He’s the best at that.
“We’re going to present projects for Barca. We have the advantage and we’re growing every day,” he added.
If elected, Ciria’s approach would combine financial discipline with targeted investment, potentially giving Hansi Flick the resources to strengthen the squad while maintaining long-term sustainability.
