Hansi Flick became the new FC Barcelona coach, having taken over from Barca legend Xavier Hernández Creus, commonly known as Xavi Hernández or simply Xavi.
FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick have agreed for the German to become the men’s first-team football coach until 30 June 2026 on May 2024.
Since his appointment, Barcelona has found its attacking identity back, and many legends, pundits, and coaches have started comparing it with Pep’s Barcelona, and the numbers don’t lie.
Flick’s victory is on the verge of making history, as revealed by Gabriel Sans in Mundo Deportivo (MD).
The Spanish Giant under the German coach has scored 113 goals in 36 official matches in all competitions, just one short of the 114 goals scored by Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in the same number of games during the historic 2011/12 season.
Barcelona faces Rayo today in what appears to be a title-determining match, and considering the Catalan’s impressive form in 2025 so far, the record looks to be surpassed.
It is still uncertain if Flick’s Barcelona could score more goals than Pep’s Barcelona in that remarkable year, having scored 190 goals in that season.
