It would not be inaccurate to assume that FC Barcelona, La Liga, and the Spanish Federation have not been on the best terms for several years. The organizations have disagreed on several issues, the most recent of which is Vitor Roque’s transfer to Palmeiras.
There are always restrictions on every move the Catalan club makes to reinforce their squad, with issues regarding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor still pending despite the temporary approval of the CSD.
La Liga chief Javier Tebas has said the Spanish duo should not be allowed to complete the season following his claim that a manipulated deal happened that secured the players’ temporary registration.
The move has received various updates in the past few weeks, from Palmeiras’ agreement with Barcelona and Betis to the player then La Liga halting the deal and Barcelona’s response to La Liga’s stance.
In the most recent development, La Liga and the Spanish federation are displeased with Barcelona’s approach to transferring Vitor Roque to Palmeiras. The move must be completed before Friday, February 28th, when the Brazilian transfer window closes.
Barcelona took the issue to FIFA, who approved the deal, which will be completed after each party is satisfied with the terms.
Barcelona desperately need the deal to be sealed off, as it would be instrumental in the contract extensions of Inigo Martinez and Lamine Yamal before the summer of 2025.
All parties involved (Barcelona, Real Betis, and Palmeiras) will be hopeful the deal is sealed, as the Brazilian club have been patient.
