Barcelona’s season continues to be shaped not just by performances on the pitch, but by ongoing injury setbacks that have tested the squad’s depth.

Hansi Flick has had to constantly adjust his defensive options, with key players missing at different stages of the campaign.

As the club pushes through a demanding run of fixtures, managing fitness and recovery has become just as important as tactics.

And for one player in particular, this season has turned into a long and frustrating battle just to get back on the pitch.

Andreas Christensen remains sidelined following the serious knee injury he suffered back in December, with his return now delayed further than initially expected.

The Danish centre-back sustained a partial ACL rupture in his left knee, an issue that immediately ruled him out for several months and raised concerns about his long-term fitness.

At the time of the injury, Andreas Christensen was already struggling for regular minutes, which only added to the uncertainty surrounding his role in the squad.

Initial estimates suggested he would be out for around three to four months, but his recovery has not progressed as quickly as hoped.

According to Mundo Deportivo, he is now expected to miss at least another month, meaning his time on the sidelines will stretch beyond the original timeline.

Christensen has already been out for over three months and is approaching the four-month mark, making this one of the most difficult periods of his Barcelona career.

With limited opportunities before the injury and a long absence since, questions remain over where he fits into Flick’s plans moving forward.

Barcelona have had to cope without him for much of the season, finding alternative solutions in defence as they continue competing across multiple fronts.

For the player, the focus will be on returning fully fit rather than rushing back, especially given the severity of the injury.
