So far this campaign, Barcelona have been fortunate with regards to not having many first-team starters be injured for a sustained period of time.

Ronald Araujo picked up an injury before the season started but he has since returned, sadly for him, due to Pau Cubarsi’s and Inigo Martinez’s form, he has not returned to the starting 11.

Lamine Yamal has also had a couple of knocks, fortunately they were not too serious and only kept him out for a short period of time.

The main player who has been injured for a large majority of the season has been Andreas Christensen.

The former Chelsea player has only made one appearance under Hansi Flick so far and that was a very short cameo off the bench.

Andreas Christensen picks up another injury

It was expected that the former Chelsea player would return to the first team after recovering from a muscle injury, unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case.

Javi Miguel, via Managing Barca, has confirmed that the Danish centre-back is injured again and it is expected he will be out for 3-4 weeks.

Sadly for Christensen, this seems to be the final straw in his Barcelona career as if you cannot stay fit then you are taking up a spot in the team for someone else to shine.

Manchester United were linked with the 28-year-old over the winter so a transfer next summer is a feasible option.

Christensen’s market value is currently €20million, but with his contract ending in 2026, as well as his injury record, the Blaugrana might consider a much lower fee to free up space in the squad.
