The Ballon d’Or is one of the most converted individual achievements in football and every player dreams about winning it.

Fortunately, over the years, Barca have been lucky enough to have many players who have won the trophy, most famously Lionel Messi.

The last time the club had a player win the Ballon d’Or was in 2019 when Messi pipped Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk to the award.

Due to Barca’s electric form this campaign the Blaugrana faithful are hopeful that some of their players will be up for the trophy.

Ballon d’Or current ranking

As per Goal, cited by Managing Barca, the current Ballon d’Or ‘power rankings’ are as follows:

1: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

2: Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid)

3: Raphinha (Barcelona)

4: Lamine Yamal (Barcelona)

5: Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona)

Whilst Barcelona dominate the top five it seems like the current power rankings are favouring Mbappe and Salah.

Nobody can argue about Mo Salah being number one as he has by far been the best player in the world this season, scoring 30 goals and providing 22 assists in all competitions.

However, Mbappe’s inclusion at number two was a shock as he only has 27 goals and four assists in all competitions.

Barcelona’s Raphinha currently has 24 goals and 18 assists in all comps, far outdoing the Real Madrid forward.

As is customary with the Ballon d’Or, whichever player wins the Champions League will most likely have the best shot but if the Egyptian forward continues this form, even if he does not win the UCL, then it would be hard to argue against him winning the award.
