Robert Lewandowski joined the Barcelona side in the summer of 2022 after eight years with Bayern Munich.

The 36-year-old Polish striker, after the shocking move, won the Supercopa de España, the La Liga title, and the Pichichi Trophy in his debut season.

Robert has been spectacular since joining the Spanish side, but age is not on the player’s side, who turns 37 on August 22 this year

Lewy earned himself an automatic contract extension in the 55% participation required to renew with Barça in Las Palmas.

Striker’s Automatic Renewal Halts Duo Signing

For months, Barcelona have been linked with Viktor Gyökeres and Alexander Isak as potential replacements for the Polish striker next season. However, the opposite is now the case.

Erling Haaland, who was seen as the best option, signed a nine-and-a-half-year contract with the English side Manchester City and was taken out of the picture.

Fans were excited about the possibility of having either striker at the heart of the striking position for next season, but with the automatic contract extension of Robert Lewandowski’s continuity for at least one more season being triggered, the signings of Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak are practically ruled out.

Sport reported that the Catalan side will prioritise signing a left winger next season, with Luis Diaz and Portuguese footballer Rafael Leão as targets.

Luis Díaz is seen as a top target as the sporting director of Barça is a big fan of the Colombian footballer.

It remains to be seen if the club can make such a move for a high fee this summer and how he will fit in with the current team.
