Before the season started, there were calls for the Barcelona to cash in on Raphinha who had not lived up to expectations since joining the club from Leeds United for €55million.

At the time reports stated that the Blaugrana would sell him if a suitable offer but that the Brazilian international decided he wanted to fight for his place.

Thankfully Raphinha decided to stay and his decision has been vindicated as he has been one of the best players in the world this season.

The 27-year-old is already getting Ballon d’Or shouts and his numbers back them up as he has scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions so far.

Unfortunately for Hansi Flick’s side, this upturn in form has meant that some of the richest clubs in the world have taken notice and are trying to secure his signing.

In a recent report from Relevo, via Managing Barca, it is claimed that Saudi Arabia are very interested in signing Raphinha and are ready to offer a huge amount of money to sign him.

The same article states that last summer Saudi offered €80million to Barcelona for the Brazilian and a €20M/year salary for the player, but he rejected it, instead favouring staying in Spain.

As we know Middle Eastern clubs have an unlimited budget and if the price is ludicrous it could force Barca to sell Raphinha so they can invest in the whole team.

For the Brazilian, it would be very hard to turn down the wages that they offer, as is evidenced by the number of world-class players who have made the switch in recent seasons.

Anything can happen but if Raphinha continues this amazing form then expect Saudi Arabia to try their luck next summer.
