Amongst most fans, Lionel Messi is considered the greatest ever football player to play the beautiful game.

His time at Barcelona cemented his place at the top of the footballing greats, where he won six of his eight Ballon d’Ors.

Even since leaving Spain, Messi has only improved his legacy, winning numerous international trophies with Argentina, including the World Cup.

Despite leaving the Catalonian side years ago, Barca still holds a special place in Messi’s heart, regularly praising them in interviews.

Most recently, there have been rumours that he could return to the Camp Nou on a short-term loan when the MLS season stops next year.

At the moment though there is nothing concrete, but the report stated that Inter Miami owner David Beckham would be happy for the move to happen so the 37-year-old can keep his fitness for what is expected to be his last World Cup campaign.

Speaking in a recent interview, cited by Managing Barca, Beckham was talking about Leo retiring and that he believes that the Argentine will return to Spain.

I would like Messi to live in Miami after he retires, but Leo has told me that he only thinks about living near the Camp Nou.

“There is no player who loves Barcelona as much as he does. You can see the Barça logo on his leg and even on his water bottle.”

Hopefully, we can see Messi play for Barcelona one more time before he decides to hang up his boots.
