This season for Barcelona has seen many different variants, especially in attack and midfield. However, one position that has been pretty consistent is the two central defenders.

Starting the campaign, it was expected that Ronald Araújo was going to be the first name on the teamsheet.

Unfortunately, after picking up an injury prior to the season, Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez formed a great partnership that kept the Uruguayan out of the team.

However, the Spanish duo could not complete the Spanish Super Cup final together after Martínez had to go off with an injury in the first half.

The 33-year-old central defender was replaced by Araújo who helped keep Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe relatively quiet.

Now, according to Javi Miguel of AS, the Spanish centre-back is set to be out for at least five weeks.

Because of this injury, it could see Araújo stay at the club this month, after receiving plenty of interest from Juventus.

The Serie A side have already had one bid rejected and are expected to return with a second, however, if Flick can guarantee the 25-year-old first-team football then he might decide to stay at the Blaugrana.
