Hansi Flick has a predicament on his hands with what to do at the left-wing position for Barcelona this season.

The German coach has tried a lot of short-term solutions, like playing Ferran Torres and Raphinha there, however, both players are much better in their natural role on the right flank.

Barça were aware of this glaring hole in the squad, so much so that they tried to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club last season but the Spanish international decided to stay at his boyhood club.

Even if the 22-year-old did decide to join, the financial situation at Barcelona would’ve made it almost impossible to complete a deal.

However, with the clear hole in the team, it seems like the Blaugrana board are authorising a signing in that position during the January transfer window, according to Fernando Polo of Mundo Deportivo.

The article links Flick’s side with Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and AC Milan’s Rafael Leão, however, it does mention another player has been offered to Barça.

That player is Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, who has completely fallen out of favour with the Red Devils’ new manager Ruben Amorim.

It also claims in the report that AC Milan are interested in the 27-year-old winger and that if he joins the Rossoneri it could have a domino effect which sees Leão join Barça.

Rashford has been an impressive player in the past for United but his profile doesn’t seem to fit what Barcelona are currently looking for.
