Luis Enrique’s docuseries on Movistar+ has stirred up controversy with his candid comments, specifically directed at Xavi Hernandez.
In the second episode, Enrique voiced his criticisms, asserting that Barcelona has not been a dependable team during Xavi’s two seasons.
“It demonstrates a lack of authority and possession control,” he highlighted. He stressed that if similar performances had taken place under his leadership, the repercussions would have been harsh:
“We would not have simply received criticism; we would have been vehemently condemned. It is intriguing how narratives can change.”
Enrique provided additional insight by stating that Barcelona has not shown the anticipated level of dominance under Xavi.
“While his supporters may see him as following in the footsteps of Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola, a neutral observer could liken his tactics to those of a lesser-known team.
Throughout my tenure, Barcelona maintained a distinct identity that has not been upheld during Xavi’s leadership.”
