On Tuesday, the reasoning behind Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong’s choice to forego surgery was elucidated.
De Jong’s injury, which occurred in April, has garnered significant attention in Barcelona. Despite continuous efforts from the Camp Nou leadership to convince him to undergo surgery for his ankle problem, De Jong stands firm in his choice for conservative treatment.
During a press conference, Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font shared insights from a recent discussion with De Jong.
Per Font, the Dutch midfielder hesitated to undergo surgery due to uncertainty regarding its effectiveness, despite the club’s advice.
“I spoke with him recently, and he expressed a desire to forego the procedure.” Font explained that the club has suggested the idea, but they cannot guarantee its success.
