An up-and-coming talent from the defensive lineup of Barcelona is close to parting ways with the club.
Mikayil Faye has been identified by Mundo Deportivo as the player poised for departure.
The Senegalese defender, who has garnered significant attention in the Catalan media, is said to be nearing his exit from FC Barcelona. As indicated in the MD report:
“Mikayil Faye, aged 20, is on the verge of concluding his departure from Barcelona.
He was not present at Friday’s training session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, which was in preparation for the league opener against Valencia at Mestalla. It appears highly likely that he will leave the club.”
It is also noted that while Faye’s sale will generate essential funds for player registrations at Barcelona, the main reason for his departure is that he failed to fully impress Hansi Flick during the pre-season.
Presently, Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 is seen as the most likely destination for Faye.
