The versatile teenager has been deployed in different positions in the midfield and delivered each and every time the manager has called him into action. Gavi might not be as silky as Pedri or a smooth operator like Frenkie, but he is unique like a Dark Knight who can act as a destroyer with his pressing or a guardian angel in front of the defence.

Gavi was first called up to cover injured Pedri, fellow Spanish talent in the squad. He responded well and continued to be in good books of Koeman and Xavi. He showed the traits of every great prospect came out of La Masia and had an additional passion towards the club. With the reinforcements in the form of Gundogan, Romeu and the established duo of Frenkie and Pedri, it was expected that Gavi might not get the same amount of minutes in the midfield again, but injuries to Pedri and Frenkie along with the arrival of Felix, Xavi had to keep Gavi on the field.

Gavi has surprised everyone with his ability to play in midfield, including in deep positions to support the defenders and his innate leadership skills have been voiced by his teammates. He has shown his passion towards the club and motivated his teammates on the field. The way he puts his body in danger to win the ball has astonished many. Gavi has shown his quality playing as an interior or as a ball carrier and succeeded in both the roles. The only complaint of him might be his accumulation of Yellow Cards due to his fouls in the heat of the moment.
