Fiorentina defender linked with free move to Barcelona

A solid Fiorentina defender is linked with a free move to FC Barcelona, with the Catalan giants seeing potential in the player.

Guided by sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick, the Blaugrana board is placing a strong emphasis on identifying proven, experienced full-backs who can provide immediate tactical reliability.

With market dynamics favoring free-agent acquisitions in recent transfer cycles, reports out of Spain indicate that Barcelona have reignited interest in a standout defender currently playing in Italy.

The player positioned firmly back on Barcelona’s radar is 27-year-old Fiorentina right-back Dodo, as reported by Diario Sport.

The Brazilian defender, who previously established himself as a dynamic full-back during his spell at Shakhtar Donetsk before moving to Serie A, has made his intention clear to leave La Viola when his current contract expires.

Having decided against signing a renewal in Florence, Dodô’s impending free-agency status has prompted Barcelona’s scouting department to add his name to their official target list for upcoming transfer windows.

Dodô’s potential availability on a free transfer aligns seamlessly with Barcelona’s strategic recruitment policy of securing quality depth without paying heavy transfer fees.

Scouts from Spotify Camp Nou have closely watched the explosive full-back live in Italy on multiple occasions, admiring his speed, stamina, and ability to contribute effectively to high-pressing transition setups.

However, Barcelona face stiff competition for his signature, as Italian powerhouses AC Milan and Juventus are also keeping close tabs on the Brazilian’s contractual standoff.

With Fiorentina taking a firm stance regarding his refusal to extend, Dodo’s future in Serie A appears all but sealed.

As Deco monitors the situation, the Catalan club stands ready to evaluate whether to initiate formal talks with the defender’s representatives in the coming months.
