Barcelona’s September campaign produced plenty of individual recognition alongside their results on the pitch.

Hansi Flick’s side have continued to rely on experienced players and new arrivals as they navigate another demanding La Liga season.

The German coach has also seen several members of his squad make an impact in different ways since the beginning of the campaign.

Raphinha has been among those to attract attention after another productive spell in front of goal.

Flick’s own work has also been recognised, with the Barcelona boss picking up a monthly award for his efforts during September.

That made it a particularly strong month for the Catalans when it came to individual honours.

Barcelona have now added another prize to that growing collection, with one of their summer arrivals receiving recognition for a memorable moment.

Joao Cancelo has been named the La Liga Goal of the Month winner for September for his stunning effort against Racing Santander, as La Liga announced on their website.

The Portuguese defender marked his first La Liga start since returning to Barcelona with an early goal during the club’s 7-2 victory. Playing at left-back, Joao Cancelo moved forward before unleashing a powerful effort from outside the penalty area just eight minutes into the contest.

The strike was eventually selected ahead of goals from Osasuna’s Ante Budimir and Alaves forward Lucas Boye.

The award caps an encouraging return to Barcelona for Cancelo, who rejoined the club during the summer after previously spending the 2023/24 season at Camp Nou on loan from Manchester City.

His versatility has once again made him a useful option for Flick, with the 32-year-old capable of operating on either flank.

Cancelo’s first spell in Catalonia saw him make 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists.

He played an important role during Barcelona’s 2023/24 campaign before returning to City at the end of his loan.

His latest goal came in what was only his first La Liga start since returning, making the award particularly notable given the limited amount of league football he had played at that stage.

For Barcelona, it means three different members of the club have now collected September’s major La Liga individual awards.

Flick was recognised as the division’s Coach of the Month, while Raphinha took home the Player of the Month prize.
