Barcelona have entered another period of change as the club continues reshaping its squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Catalan giants have been managing several transitions in recent seasons, with young talents developing, established stars moving on and the squad taking a new direction under Hansi Flick.
While Barcelona continue planning for the future, some departures carry more emotion than others because of the stories behind them.
Few players have had a journey quite like those who rise through La Masia and go on to represent the first team at such a young age.
The club’s academy remains one of the most important parts of Barcelona’s identity, producing players who grow up understanding what wearing the shirt means.
After years filled with highs, setbacks and unforgettable moments, Ansu Fati has now officially closed the door on his Barcelona chapter after completing a permanent move to AS Monaco.
The 23-year-old attacker has signed a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 side after Monaco activated the €11 million purchase option included in his loan agreement from the previous season.
Following confirmation of the transfer, Ansu Fati shared an emotional message on Instagram with Barcelona supporters, reflecting on the role the club played in shaping his career.
“Hello, Culers!! I came here as a child, La Masia was my home. I enjoyed every game and every tournament, and I defended these colours above all,” Ansu wrote.
The forward also admitted that his time at Barcelona was about more than football, explaining how the club helped shape him as a person.
“We win, we lose, but most importantly, I learned every day the values that this club represents.”
Ansu went on to thank the many people who helped him throughout his journey, from teammates to staff members behind the scenes.
“I met a lot of amazing people: colleagues who became brothers, coaches, physio’s, cooks, press staff and directors. Thank you all for these unforgettable years.”
The Spanish forward also spoke about achieving the dream shared by many young players who enter La Masia.
“Fulfilled the dream of any kid who is lucky enough to wear this shirt: to play in the first team!”
Ansu’s rise at Barcelona was initially viewed as something special, with the youngster breaking into the senior team at just 16 years old and being seen as a future star.
However, injuries disrupted his momentum, despite the club showing faith by handing him the iconic No.10 shirt following Lionel Messi’s departure.
Now, after leaving the Spotify Camp Nou behind, Ansu begins a fresh challenge in France as he looks to rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most exciting talents.
The former Barcelona academy graduate ended his farewell with a final message to the supporters who watched his journey unfold.
“Now its time to say goodbye. It’s been a dream to defend these colours.
“Thank you for everything, FC Barcelona. Thank you for everything, Culers.”
“Visca el Barca i visca Catalunya!”
