Barcelona’s search for attacking reinforcements this summer has taken another hit, with one of their key forward targets now firmly removed from the market by his current club.
While the Catalan side continue to explore options to strengthen their frontline ahead of the new season, competition for elite attackers has been intense across Europe.
However, in this case, negotiations have not even been allowed to begin.
And the response from England has been immediate and decisive.
Chelsea have made it clear that forward Joao Pedro will not be sold this summer, effectively ending any possibility of a move to Barcelona, after the Catalan club were reportedly after the Brazilian.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have delivered an uncompromising stance to Barcelona, informing the La Liga giants that the player is completely off limits and will not be part of any transfer discussions under any circumstances.
The message from Stamford Bridge is understood to be absolute, with senior figures refusing to open talks, engage in negotiations, or entertain any approach regarding the Brazilian forward.
Internally, Chelsea regard Joao Pedro as a central figure in their long-term sporting project, viewing him as a key foundation piece for the future rather than a sellable asset.
As a result, the club have labelled him ‘untouchable’, meaning no fee, regardless of magnitude, would be considered sufficient to change their stance during the current transfer window.
Pedro’s importance has grown rapidly following his arrival, with the forward quickly establishing himself as one of Chelsea’s most consistent attacking threats over the course of the season.
Across all competitions, he has registered 50 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 9 assists, making him one of the standout performers in the squad.
His output and influence saw him emerge as a key figure in Chelsea’s attacking structure, with his performances earning internal recognition as one of the club’s most valuable players of the campaign.
🚨🔵 Understand Chelsea have been very clear with Barcelona: no intention at all to negotiate, discuss or talk about João Pedro.#CFC see João as key part of project, it’s not about bid/value. No intention to sell at all.
