One of the biggest honours in football is decided by the people who understand the demands of the game better than anyone else.
The FIFPRO World 11 gives professional players the opportunity to recognise their peers for performances across the season.
Unlike awards decided by journalists, coaches or supporters, the selection is based entirely on votes from fellow footballers.
Players are assessed on their contributions at club and international level, with eligibility determined by a minimum number of competitive appearances.
The final team is designed to reflect the standout performers in each position rather than simply reward the most successful clubs.
Barcelona have regularly had players involved in the conversation, and their latest shortlist reflects the quality within Flick’s squad.
Four Barcelona players officially nominated for FIFPRO World XI
The shortlist announced on 2 November on FIFPRO’s website features four Barcelona players, Pau Cubarsi, Pedri and Lamine Yamal and Rodri.
Barcelona are among the clubs with the strongest representation, level with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.
Cubarsi earned his place after another important campaign at the heart of Barcelona’s defence.
The centre-back made 48 appearances in all competitions during 2025/26, playing almost 4,000 minutes and continuing to establish himself as one of Flick’s most trusted options.
Pedri’s influence was once again felt in midfield, where his ability to control possession and dictate the tempo made him central to Barcelona’s play.
He recorded 59 appearances in the previous campaign, scoring six goals and providing eight assists.
Yamal was equally influential, producing 18 goals and 21 assists in 55 appearances while finishing among Europe’s most dangerous dribblers.
The four nominees also share the achievement of helping Spain win the 2026 World Cup.
Yamal, Pedri, Cubarsi and Rodri all featured during the tournament, with the Barcelona trio contributing to the national side’s success.
FIFPRO’s shortlist was compiled after 19,806 professional footballers from 73 countries cast their votes.
Players were assessed on performances between 4 August 2025 and 19 July 2026, with at least 30 official appearances required to qualify.
The final World 11 will feature a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, three forwards and the next highest-voted outfield player.
The winners will be announced on Monday, 9 November.
