Barcelona’s preparations for the summer transfer window have been shadowed by mounting uncertainty, especially in the attacking department.

Joan Laporta remains committed to giving Hansi Flick the tools needed, but financial limitations continue to dictate what’s possible and what’s not.

The Catalan club would love to add quality to the left flank.

Despite the optimism earlier in the window, Barcelona’s plan to sign Luis Diaz now looks close to crumbling.

The Colombian winger is Deco’s top priority, and the sporting director had already made a formal move to test Liverpool’s stance.

The Premier League champions, however, were quick to reject the approach, signalling they have no intention of letting their 17-goal attacker go this summer.

What makes matters worse for Barca is the emergence of Al-Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s club are prepared to go big, with journalist Ben Jacobs via X reporting a potential €85 million offer to try and tempt Liverpool into selling.

Barcelona, bound by Financial Fair Play and La Liga’s spending limits, cannot match that figure—nor do they expect to even get close.

If Al-Nassr continue pushing, Deco’s hopes of bringing Luis Diaz to Camp Nou will all but vanish.

There is, however, a flicker of hope. Al-Nassr are also interested in AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and if they pivot towards signing the Portuguese star instead, the pressure on Barcelona could ease.

But as it stands, Liverpool show no signs of softening their stance.

Unless Liverpool change their stance or Al-Nassr shift their focus, Barcelona’s hopes of landing Luis Diaz look all but dead in the water.

Barcelona’s summer plans now hang in the balance, with Deco left to consider backup options in a market that offers little room for error.
