Barcelona has been on a mission to further enhance their attacking options, and with the likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski already at their disposal, they’re looking to add even more firepower this summer.
The Spanish giants have enjoyed a potent attacking lineup, but reports suggest they are still keen on bolstering their front line with new additions.
Adding another dynamic winger could provide more depth to their already impressive offensive line-up.
This ambition has led to interest in several high-profile wingers, with one player at the forefront of their radar—Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.
However, Barcelona’s pursuit of Luis Diaz now seems to have cooled, as per Sport.
Initially, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, had been an admirer of the Colombian winger and was believed to be pushing for a move to bring him to the Nou Camp.
Diaz’s skillset and versatility would have added to Barcelona’s already impressive attacking depth, complementing the attacking trio of Raphinha, Yamal, and Lewandowski.
But now, with rising competition from other clubs, particularly in the Saudi Pro League, Barcelona’s focus has reportedly shifted away from Diaz.
Liverpool, meanwhile, has set a significant price tag on the 28-year-old winger, demanding €75m (£64.3m, $82.9m) for his services.
Diaz’s productive season at Anfield, with 14 goals and eight assists, has caught the attention of several clubs, but Barcelona seems to have withdrawn from the race after assessing the growing interest from teams like Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
These Saudi clubs have begun to make serious moves for Luis Diaz, offering financial terms that may be too appealing for both the player and Liverpool to turn down.
Reports suggest that Liverpool is considering a sale, with the opportunity to almost double their initial investment in Diaz.
With this shift in focus, Barcelona is now forced to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements, despite their long-standing interest in Diaz.
Meanwhile, Arsenal has also entered the fray, keeping tabs on Diaz as a potential target if their primary pursuit, Nico Williams, falls through.
However, with interest from both Saudi Arabia and other European clubs, the Colombian winger’s future now looks uncertain, and Barcelona might just miss out on another coveted attacking talent this summer.
