Barcelona’s summer transfer window planning is already in full swing, with Deco and his recruitment team working around the clock to strengthen the squad under boss Hansi Flick.

High on the priority list is the need to rejuvenate the attack – particularly on the left, where options have lacked consistency.

With Ansu Fati’s future still uncertain and Ferran Torres enduring a mixed campaign, attention has shifted to proven, dynamic wingers capable of delivering at the elite level.

The Catalans’ financial constraints have been well documented, making any marquee signing a delicate operation.

Yet despite their economic challenges, Barca continue to monitor top targets across Europe, hoping to capitalise on contract situations or player unrest.

A familiar name to emerge in recent weeks is Luis Diaz – a player long admired in La Liga circles for his explosiveness and work rate.

However, Barcelona’s pursuit of the Colombian star has hit a significant snag.

According to a fresh report by Paul Joyce of The Times, Liverpool have no plans to entertain offers for Luis Diaz this summer, despite interest from both Barca and Saudi Arabia.

The winger, who joined the Reds from FC Porto in 2022, is considered a core part of Arne Slot’s plans moving forward.

There had been speculation that Liverpool might be tempted to cash in, especially with murmurs about a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz gathering pace.

However, Joyce insists the Merseysiders are prepared to stand firm.

Diaz remains under contract until 2027, and with no pressure to sell, Barcelona’s hopes of luring him to the Camp Nou have suffered a major blow.

For the Blaugrana, this setback means attention may have to shift swiftly to alternative options, with the clock ticking and Flick eager to shape his side ahead of the US tour in late July.
