Uncertainty looms for a young Barcelona midfielder as he figures out where his future lies with the club.

According to Diario Sport, the upcoming game against Athletic Club this weekend could be his last with the Blaugrana, during what was once going to be a long-term relationship when all expectations were that this player would be part of the way forward for years to come.

Once daubed with overwhelming talent and the ability to dictate how the midfield of Barcelona was going to operate for the next decade, at just 22 years of age, the reality is that he is going to find it difficult to be part of Hansi Flick’s future at the club.

Pablo Torre was supposed to be one of the technically gifted midfielders with all the tools, and had all the hopes.

He came to Barcelona with questions over his readiness, yet he was never going to take a long time to consider whether he was a good investment for the future.

The way he unlocked opposition defences infected with the subtlety of finesse, methodology, and care to achieve the aim always made Torre an asset.

But now, under Flick, Torre has found himself confined to the sidelines of the squad.

He has not started in a La Liga game since September, nor played a minute since March, as he has not even endured a long injury!

Though this fact has a nuance to it recently with a short-lived knee issue at the start of the month, the damning reality is Flick does not see him as part of the competitive core.

Barcelona is now in a precarious position regarding Torre’s future.

The club could always just sell him in the summer and take his market value, or they could try to extend his contract to regain that value, combined with a loan.
