A €8 million top La Liga defender is rapidly closing in on a dream move to FC Barcelona, with both clubs working to finalise the details.

The highly sought-after Spanish prospect, fresh off international silverware, has firmly prioritized joining the Catalan giants despite negotiations stalling over valuation disputes in recent weeks.

With the player’s camp holding fast to their desire for a move to Catalonia, all parties involved are working through intermediaries to break the financial deadlock before the summer window draws to a close.

The teenage prodigy pushing for the dream transfer to Barcelona is 19-year-old Racing Santander star Jorge Salinas.

According to reports from Diario Sport, Salinas remains resolute in his intent to wear the Blaugrana jersey, having agreed on personal terms as far back as June.

Capable of performing seamlessly as both a left-back and left-sided center-back, the UEFA European Under-19 Championship winner was a standout contributor in helping Racing secure their historic return to La Liga after a 14-year absence.

The core obstacle in finalizing the operation centers on a contract discrepancy regarding the player’s release clause.

While Barcelona and super-agent Jorge Mendes originally anticipated securing the transfer for €8 million, Racing Santander insists that promotion automatically doubled the exit clause to €16 million.

Barcelona consider paying €16 million for a player without top-flight senior experience a significant risk under Financial Fair Play constraints, prompting Deco to explore alternative deal structures—including loaning young academy talents like left-back Jofre Torrents to reduce the cash outlay.

Despite the firm stance from Racing, Hansi Flick has already given his green light to integrate the versatile defender directly into Barcelona’s first-team squad structure rather than sending him on loan.

With Salinas currently wrapping up his post-tournament break and refusing to entertain competing interest from clubs like Atlético Madrid, negotiations are expected to accelerate rapidly into late August as Barcelona attempt to seal the €16 million defender’s signature.
