Barcelona pursuit of a long-term attacking solution has taken them to the Bundesliga and, specifically, a prolific forward from RB Leipzig.
The attacking talent has caught the eye of clubs all over Europe.
Barcelona, among other leading Spanish clubs, is keeping tabs on the striker’s performance as they look towards the next few seasons.
RB Leipzig tends to produce elite footballers, and they have done it again, for a goalkeeper whose goal-scoring ability and stature in the final third would entice any club looking to strengthen their attacking options.
This news comes as Barcelona tries and go into another season with Robert Lewandowski as their centre forward, and reports suggest financial constraints are still hampering the Blaugrana’s plans for high-profile and club-changing signings, particularly in the summer window, according to AS.
The player mentioned is not any other player then Benjamin Sesko, the 21-year-old Slovenian international striker with 39 goals for Leipzig since his loan with them in 2022 and has a contract binding him until 2029, Leipzig are certainly open to talks about him as they are trying to minimize their investment in players, but any agreement would require a hefty financial outlay, one that would likely be beyond Barcelona’s means immediately.
Regardless, the club is still searching for players with potential, and it seems the Bundesliga star has emerged as a frontrunner for them.
RB Leipzig who are actively aware of the interest in their player listed him at €100 million, but if talks happen they could try and bring price to €90 million – or in the chance that they have a poor Bundesliga season and miss out on the Champions League – maybe even €80 million could be possible.
While Barcelona is working towards financial recovery, they may not complete a striker signing until then, but will continue to monitor Sesko’s development, trusting that Lewandowski can see them through the 2025-26 season.
