PSG have tested Barcelona’s resolve by preparing a substantial €70 million move for one of their defensive stars.
French and European champions Paris Saint-Germain are aggressively scouting top talent across La Liga to reinforce their defensive depth.
Manager Luis Enrique has identified the need for an elite operator capable of offering tactical flexibility across multiple defensive positions, prompting the French side to outline a blockbuster proposal.
The versatile Spanish international driving these major transfer headlines as PSG ready a €70m move for Barcelona defender is 25-year-old Eric García, as reported by Sport.fr.
Having fully established himself as an undisputed starter under Hansi Flick, García has enjoyed a sensational campaign in Catalonia, showcasing exceptional composure, tactical intelligence, and distribution from the back.
Luis Enrique views his former national team defender as the ideal profile to provide high-level cover for Marquinhos at center-back and Achraf Hakimi at right-back in Paris.
From Barcelona’s perspective, sanctioning a sale for García presents a substantial dilemma.
While a €70 million windfall would offer immense financial breathing room under La Liga’s stringent economic regulations, the player has become practically indispensable to Flick’s tactical setup.
In addition to claiming a permanent starting spot, García was voted into Barcelona’s leadership captaincy group this season, reflecting the high esteem in which he is held by both the coaching staff and his teammates.
For PSG, laying the groundwork for a €70 million swoop underlines their determination to secure proven, top-tier talent.
However, convincing Barcelona to part ways with a homegrown leader at the peak of his career will require a monumental effort.
Having finally locked down a central role at his boyhood club, García himself remains deeply committed to Spotify Camp Nou, making any prospective departure highly improbable as transfer rumors continue to circulate.
