PSG have stepped up their efforts and are now very close to securing the signature of a Barcelona star in a €55 million operation.

The French champions have identified the Spanish forward as a primary transfer target to headline their new-look front line.

While FC Barcelona initially maintained a firm stance against selling one of their key goalscorers, the board’s position has softened, paving the way for direct club-to-club talks early next week.

The Catalan forward eager to complete his move to PSG is Ferran Torres, who has already informed close confidants and several dressing room teammates of his desire to embark on a new chapter with the Ligue 1 champions, according to Santi Aouna on Footmercato.

The 26-year-old Spanish international arrives off the back of a career-best domestic season where he netted 16 goals in La Liga, before capping off his sensational campaign by scoring the winning goal for Spain in the World Cup final against Argentina.

A massive catalyst driving this potential blockbuster deal is PSG manager Luis Enrique.

The former Barcelona and Spain boss holds Torres in extremely high regard, valuing his tactical intelligence, pressing work rate, and ability to operate seamlessly across all three frontline positions.

Having previously coached him at international level, Enrique considers Torres an essential tactical piece to elevate PSG’s continental ambitions.

From Barcelona’s perspective, contract dynamics have accelerated the likelihood of a deal.

Entering the final phase of his contract, Torres reportedly feels undervalued due to stagnant renewal negotiations.

Additionally, extending his deal would trigger a mandatory €8 million add-on payment to his former club Manchester City.

With Barcelona unwilling to force an uncommitted player to stay, the hierarchy is ready to negotiate a suitable fee with PSG to rebalance their wage structure and fund their own transfer targets
