With the summer transfer window fast approaching, a Barcelona defender has emerged as a target for several clubs across Europe.
The 24-year-old Spanish defender’s development in the second half of the season has prompted interest from clubs in Spain and beyond.
His versatility in being able to play across multiple positions on the pitch has made this player an extremely desirable transfer option.
It has been reported that five clubs are determined to obtain this player’s services: three clubs from La Liga, a club from Serie A, and a Premier League club, according to Fichajes.
The interest stems from this player’s already proven pedigree, the record of his loan spell last season at a Catalan club, and this season’s recent performances under the current manager of Barcelona.
After the player’s links to a potential move in January, he stayed put at Camp Nou, but the interest in him has only heightened ahead of the summer transfer window.
The player is Eric Garcia, the multi-skilled and star Barcelona player who has played for Spain internationally, including winning gold at the Olympics in Paris.
Girona, where Garcia performed excellently on loan in 2023/24, is interested in him again.
Real Sociedad and Real Betis are also potential rivals.
Serie A’s Como (with funding from Cesc Fabregas) has eyed Garcia as a main target to join the club, while Tottenham also wants to bring back the ex-Manchester City player to the Premier League.
Although the interest level for Garcia appears high, Barcelona is likely not going to allow him to leave.
Manager Hansi Flick places a high importance on Garcia being able to play a centre-back, defensive midfielder, or right-back.
For the time being, Garcia is a feature of Barça’s plans to the dismay of the teams interested in signing him.
