As the summer transfer window approaches its deadline, a permanent sale looms for a key FC Barcelona talent.
The club has already seen several players depart, with some securing loan moves and others leaving permanently.
The new manager’s vision, centered on integrating fresh faces from the youth ranks, has left certain squad members struggling to secure their place.
Among them is a 22-year-old defender whose time at the club appears to be nearing its end, with a transfer expected in the coming weeks as Barcelona reshapes its roster.
He has not featured in any of the team’s pre-season friendlies, and reports suggest he is unlikely to play in upcoming matches.
The player in question is Mamadou Mbacke, a Senegalese centre-back who has been part of Barcelona’s reserve team, Barça Atletic, and is a product of the club’s renowned La Masia academy, as reported by Diario Sport.
Mbacke joined two years ago on loan from Los Angeles FC, having previously gained experience in Spain’s second tier with Villarreal B.
His early performances impressed, leading Barcelona to sign him permanently last year for a reduced fee of €2 million, down from €4 million, with a contract running until June 2026.
Mbacke’s most recent season was plagued by physical setbacks. An ankle injury sidelined him at the campaign’s start, and pubic discomfort forced him to miss key matches toward the end.
These disruptions led to a noticeable dip in his performance, diminishing his role within the squad. Under new Barça Atletic manager Juliano Belletti, who has prioritized players from the treble-winning Juvenil A side, Mbacke has found himself on the fringes.
With Belletti’s vision focused on youth integration, Mbacke’s lack of involvement signals a clear shift, and a permanent transfer away from Barcelona appears imminent before the window closes.
