Hansi Flick has reportedly made signing a left winger a priority for next summer.

Even though Ferran Torres and Raphinha have been exceptional in that position, neither of them are natural on the left.

Liverpool’s Luis Diaz has been heavily linked with a move to the Blaugrana next season.

His directness, pace and explosiveness are attributes that the club and Flick appreciate.

However, recent reports are claiming that the Premier League side would demand around €70million.

This figure means that Barcelona would need to sell a current player to fund it.

Unfortunately for the Catalonian side, this is going to be the case with most of the big money transfers in the immediate future.

After years of mismanagement, Deco and Joan Laporta are currently restructuring the club and paying unproven players ridiculous money is where they are starting.

This reason is maybe why Barca decided against signing Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams last summer.

The Spanish forward was heavily linked with the Blaugrana after he and Yamal lit up the Euros 2024, both bringing winners’ medals back to Spain.

Despite the interest, Barcelona were not willing to pay his €58million release clause and match his current €200k per week contract.

However, according to El Nacional the 22-year-old could still end up at Barca.

The report states that the La Liga side are still actively monitoring his situation.

Even though Williams still wants to join the Blaugrana, it is stated that whatever team he joins next, the main condition will be that he is a starter.

This condition is something that the Spanish international does not believe Barca can offer, especially with Raphinha’s form.

Whilst a transfer is not ruled out, interest from Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool could prove Hansi Flick’s side out of any deal.

Thankfully Nico Williams is still young so even if he does not join Barca next summer, he could link up with his best friend Lamine Yamal in a few years time.
