Nico Williams representatives have stepped in to clarify ongoing concerns surrounding his potential transfer to Barcelona.

The hunt for a left-winger has been a key part of Barcelona’s transfer plans this summer, on the club’s quest to add attacking options with Hansi Flick at the moment.

After missing out on the Nico Williams star last summer, the Blaugrana are back to securing the 22-year-old as they work through some financial obstacles to meet his €62 million release clause.

Recently, there have been issues regarding La Liga’s registration topics, which have led to some uncertainty around the deal as well as some tension between ‘Los Leones’ and ‘Los Cules’ as Athletic Club has been looking over the financial obligations the Catalans are undergoing.

Despite earlier reports claiming the deal had stalled, journalist Gerard Romero has confirmed that Nico Williams’ camp is remaining relaxed on whether Barcelona can register him and that they believe the move is still possible.

Williams is eager to come and play with close friend Lamine Yamal at Spotify Camp Nou, and they each agreed to a six-year contract this week, with Barcelona preparing to complete the transfer on July 6.

Hansi Flick has spoken to Williams personally and laid out his tactical plans to him for a future role with the team.

Barcelona’s hope stems from its latest moves financially, and its players leaving, which relieve the salary cap restrictions for FC Barcelona.

Their confidence stems from a €150 million deal with Nike and player exits such as Clement Lenglet.

Athletic Club’s president Jon Uriarte still continues to fight against the transfer, but Barcelona are moving quickly to complete the transfer and have capitalized on Williams´ determination to wear the Blaugrana jersey.

As the transfer window heats up, the decision of the Spanish winger could prove to be quite the coup for Barcelona interest in the 2025-26 season.
