Barcelona are on the hunt for reinforcements as they prepare to rebuild under a new era at the Camp Nou, with European qualification now secured.
The Catalan club is aiming to bolster its attacking line ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with financial limitations forcing them to consider more cost-effective options.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also expected to undergo a summer overhaul, with Ruben Amorim pushing for a major squad shake-up to align with his vision for the future.
Amorim is already eyeing incoming talent, with deals for Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap both progressing — potentially signalling the end for several current first-teamers.
And now, one of United’s biggest names could be heading out the door, with Barcelona ready to pounce.
According to iPaper, Marcus Rashford has emerged as a key target for Barcelona, who are exploring the possibility of bringing the England international to LaLiga.
Marcus Rashford is currently on loan at Aston Villa, having fallen out of favour under Amorim earlier this year, and has scored four goals in 17 appearances before a hamstring injury cut short his campaign.
The 27-year-old is reportedly keen on a move to Spain and is even willing to take a pay cut on his £325,000-a-week wages to secure a Champions League return.
Barcelona were interested in a January move but couldn’t afford his salary, while Villa’s £40m option to buy now stands as an obstacle to any permanent deal from elsewhere.
However, reports claim Barcelona will refuse to match the £40m fee and instead hope to negotiate a reduced sum, believing United would be open to a cut-price exit.
With Rashford expected to hold talks with United this summer, the door is open for Barcelona to step in.
Ruben Amorim, meanwhile, has doubled down on his January decisions, including loaning out both Rashford and Antony, insisting the long-term project matters more than short-term goals.
“We lost Rashford and Antony, we didn’t replace them, and that was a risk,” Amorim said.
“But we’re trying to build something more important than scoring 10 more goals this season.”
If Rashford does leave, it would end a long-running saga and open up the possibility of a fresh start for both player and club.
