Manchester United have opened talks to hijack Barcelona’s move for top target, threatening Barcelona’s long-planned summer transfer.
Barcelona search for a high-caliber defensive reinforcement has become even more difficult with other clubs starting to pursue their priority summer target.
After months of discussions, with a verbal agreement already in place, the club faces delays on the final signing due to FFP issues.
However, now that there is uncertainty with the deal, other European clubs are taking notice and risks derailing FC Barcelona’s plans.
One of the clubs making a serious run at the player is Manchester United, which has already reached out to the player’s representatives and has reportedly commenced formal talks to unsettle this transfer, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany
On top of that, Bayern Munich, which has connections with the coaching staff, as well as some interest from even our biggest domestic rivals, complicate this situation even more.
FC Barcelona is particularly keen on Jonathan Tah, Bayer Leverkusen’s centre back, who is 29 years old and a former German international; he is available on a free transfer this summer.
Tah has been on the club’s radar for some time but has been unable to finalize this previously due to FFP constraints; now Manchester United has become active with their negotiations, and Bayern and the Bundesliga being keen to finalize their next moves, Barcelona must act quickly or be left on the sidelines.
Real Madrid’s possible involvement brings a further dimension to an already exciting tale, especially with Xabi Alonso-Tah’s former manager at Leverkusen tipped to take over at the Bernabéu.
Barcelona’s board is under increasing pressure to sign Tah before the race is on.
If they don’t attempt to resolve the financial issues, they might lose their number one defensive target to an elite club in Europe. It’s going to be a thrilling few weeks in this transfer saga!
