Liverpool has set a hefty price tag on Barcelona’s top attacking target, complicating the Catalan club’s summer transfer plans.
As the summer transfer market approaches, all the talk is of Barcelona looking for a new dynamic winger to help add to their attacking options.
Whether it be Hansi Flick’s eagerness to improve the overall pace, balance, and flair of the squad, or a new player with thrilling pace and creativity to tip the scales in an attacking position, the Catalan club remains committed to finding the right player.
And, with much speculation, one candidate in particular is looking like the one to be recommended with the news that he could provide a high output of pace and creativity in Barcelona’s frontline.
As Fichajes reports, Premier League club Liverpool has set a high price tag of €80 million on their star winger, Luis Diaz.
The Colombian’s dynamic pace, dribbling ability, and overall capacity to break down defenses make Diaz an obvious fit for Flick’s system, however, Liverpool’s price tag would remain a huge obstacle currently for Barcelona.
There is also a possible internal restructuring at Liverpool, meaning they may only want to sell Diaz if they get their own valuation, meaning they will be tough negotiators, depending on whether a deal is possible or not.
Diaz’s attractiveness is unquestionable. His experience, with more maturity at Porto and Liverpool, fits Barcelona’s objectives perfectly as they are looking for players to support others like Lamine Yamal.
There are hints from Diaz’s camp that he would be excited to wear the colours of the Blaugrana and represent the club at Camp Nou.
To pull off the signing, Barcelona is exploring the possibility of players involved in a player-plus-cash deal, or even perhaps structured payments that could include players not part of Flick’s plans.
