Barcelona have been active behind the scenes this season as Hansi Flick continues to assess long-term solutions for the squad.
The Catalan giants have shown a renewed focus on youth and potential, particularly in attacking positions, as they plan for a future beyond Robert Lewandowski.
Across La Liga, several young forwards have been catching the eye with their consistency and flair, sparking interest from Europe’s elite clubs.
Barcelona’s scouting network has been particularly attentive to players who combine technical ability with tactical intelligence, traits highly valued by Flick in his attacking system.
With winter approaching, the club is increasingly prioritising targets who could be integrated seamlessly into the squad without disrupting the team’s rhythm.
One such player is Karl Etta Eyong, the 22-year-old Cameroonian striker currently making waves at Levante.
Karl Etta Eyong has already contributed six goals and three assists this season, showcasing a blend of poise, finishing, and movement that has drawn attention across the continent.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have identified him as a top candidate to succeed Lewandowski, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
Eyong is no stranger to the Catalan club, having worn the Barca jersey at youth level and expressed admiration for the club, giving Barcelona a slight edge over rival suitors.
However, the race for Eyong’s signature is intense.
Real Madrid are also tracking his progress, while Premier League giants Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal have all shown strong interest.
Eyong himself is reportedly keen to resolve his future during the upcoming January transfer window rather than wait until summer, adding urgency to the situation.
A logistical complication is that Eyong has already appeared for two clubs this season, Villarreal and Levante.
La Liga regulations prevent him from representing a third team in official matches, meaning that even if a transfer is completed in January, he would remain on loan at Levante until June 30th.
Despite this, Barcelona’s admiration for the striker remains strong, and he is viewed as a long-term replacement capable of stepping into Lewandowski’s role while adding youthful energy to the attack.
