Barcelona star seems to be on the verge of bringing his Camp Nou career to a close, with the club’s sporting staff allegedly not having him in their plans for next season.
The 22-year-old forward, who was touted as the replacement for Lionel Messi, has seen his career come to a halt due to repeated injury issues and inconsistent performances.
Barcelona put him on the market in January, but the player would not depart, hoping to play under new manager Hansi Flick.
But with the German manager making it obvious he does not have a place for him in his plans, the young striker has now accepted that his future lies elsewhere.
According to Fichajes, Ansu Fati could very well have his next club in La Liga, with Sevilla being the top favorites to sign him.
Sevilla is preparing a new offer, after earlier attempts to sign him were rejected by Barcelona’s financial demands and Fati’s hesitation to leave.
Having come back from his abysmal loan stint at Brighton, where he was unable to find regular minutes or make any significant contributions, the Spanish international is more open to starting fresh.
Sevilla’s strategy is to try to convince Fati to negotiate the transfer himself, given the strained relationship between the two clubs since the last negotiations.
While the operation is riddled with risks, primarily Sevilla’s financial troubles, they might make the offer more appealing by offering Fati the center position he has been craving for the past few years.
For Barcelona, this is an opportunity to eliminate a highly paid player no longer suitable for their project, even though they will have to incur their initial estimate.
As summer approaches, all eyes will be on whether he decides to give his career a second chance in a Spanish rival team or waits for other chances. One thing is sure: his Barcelona days are over.
