Juventus have been trying very hard to sign Barcelona’s current captain Ronald Araújo this January transfer window.

The Italian side have had their first bid rejected, which was reported to be an offer of around €35million.

Even though the Uruguayan has apparently told Barcelona that he wants to leave this summer, Hansi Flick has reiterated that he’d like to keep the 25-year-old at the club.

Despite the German coach’s willingness to keep Araújo, reports have claimed that Barça will sell him if they receive an offer of around €70million.

Murmurs from Italian and Spanish news sites have claimed that the Serie A side are preparing a second bid, however, it is still set to be far off Barcelona’s valuation.

One of the main reasons why Araújo reportedly wants to leave the Camp Nou is due to Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez forming a partnership in Flick’s side.

However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, the Uruguayan could decide to stay at Barcelona now.

In the 27th minute of the Super Cup final against Real Madrid, Martínez went down under no contract and had to be replaced by the 25-year-old defender.

Hopefully, Martínez’s injury is not bad but if it can guarantee Araújo some game time then he might consider holding off on a potential transfer this January transfer window.
