Barcelona’s summer planning is accelerating behind the scenes, with Hansi Flick and the sporting department evaluating options to strengthen the squad.

The Catalan club’s focus has been split between securing new attacking talent and reinforcing their defensive spine, with whispers of multiple targets circulating in recent weeks.

Fans have been watching transfer rumours closely, especially after several high-profile departures left gaps in the squad.

Internally, Barcelona are balancing ambition with financial prudence, knowing that spending decisions will be scrutinised both on the pitch and in the accounts.

Reports suggest that the club remains committed to finding long-term solutions, even if they require patience and strategic timing.

At the centre of the club’s defensive wishlist is Alessandro Bastoni, the Inter Milan defender admired for his technical ability and tactical intelligence.

Barcelona believe Bastoni fits the type of centre-back needed for Flick’s system, where composure on the ball, passing range and positional awareness are highly valued.

However, completing a move is far from straightforward.

According to SPORT, Inter Milan consider Alessandro Bastoni untouchable, viewing him as a cornerstone for the future, with contract talks ongoing and the player himself committed to the club.

The Italian is seen as a potential future captain at Inter, fully integrated into their long-term plans, and his current deal runs until 2028, making any transfer a huge challenge.

For Barcelona, the financial obstacles are significant: the club cannot realistically meet the kind of fee Inter would demand without generating major income or freeing substantial salary space.

Even so, Bastoni remains on Barcelona’s radar as a dream signing, one they could pursue once their economic situation allows for a high-value acquisition.

For now, though, the operation is considered distant, the kind of transfer that may take months, if not years, to materialise.
