Galatasaray unleash a daring, ambitious move for Barcelona’s prized midfielder in a dramatic winter transfer push.

The Turkish champions, eager to add Champions League-level quality and personality to the heart of their team, believe the out-of-favour La Masia product could be revitalised in Istanbul, where the promise of a leading role, passionate fanbase, and competitive domestic and European platform make their proposal particularly attractive.

Once considered a reliable rotation option at the base of midfield, the midfielder has featured in just one of Barça’s last five matches, starting only the Copa del Rey clash against Racing Santander before slipping completely out of the picture.

That midfielder is Marc Casadó, contracted to Barcelona until 2028 with a hefty €100 million release clause, but no longer viewed as untouchable in Flick’s plans, as reported by Diario Sport.

Galatasaray’s interest comes at a time when competition in Barcelona’s midfield has intensified, with Marc Bernal now preferred in the holding role and youngster Tommy Marques impressing in training in the same position.

This internal hierarchy shift has pushed Casadó down the pecking order, making him a realistic target for clubs willing to offer a central role and consistent minutes.

However, any January move is complicated by Barcelona’s own squad issues. Long-term injuries to Pedri and Gavi have left Flick short of reliable midfield bodies, meaning the club is reluctant to weaken their depth mid-season unless an exceptional proposal arrives.

While Galatasaray are monitoring closely, they are joined by Atletico Madrid, who also view Casadó as a possible solution after recent midfield departures.

Galatasaray, meanwhile, are positioning themselves early, hoping that their project and guaranteed role can convince the La Masia graduate to consider a fresh chapter in Istanbul once the window conditions are more favourable
